Etchmiadzin, as a religious institution of Christianity, was the sole unifying factor for the Armenian people and also served as an intermediary in matters between the Qajar government and the Armenians. The examination of historical developments and documents clearly demonstrates that the fundamental policy of the Muslim Qajar government was the serious and continuous support of its Christian subjects, especially the Armenians. They issued important decrees regarding the non-compulsion of Armenians to convert to Islam by Muslims and the non-violation of their religious rites and rituals. This research seeks to analytically examine the religious policies of the Shia Qajar government in confronting Armenian Christians subject to Etchmiadzin, based on the documents of the Holy Mashtots (Matenadaran) and relying on existing documents in the Armenian archives in Iran and Armenia. The research findings indicate that the religious policies of the Shia Qajar government in confronting Armenian Christians subject to Etchmiadzin were based on a stable coexistence and the absence of religious conflicts. Etchmiadzin, as a Christian religious institution, was the sole unifying factor for the Armenian people and also served as an intermediary in matters between the Shia Qajar government and the Armenians
